Re: Subby Patel
Had a drink for him yesterday and was well loved by lots of people because not only was he West Ham but a Hindu and he is a great example of integration which unfortunately many of them do not do.
A few of his northern hammers stayed at mine last night and they are devestated at the loss of him. On a beano in Amsterdam last year with him and his boy and what a character, never forgotten.

Re: Subby Patel
fucks sake. that has completely knocked me for six. I saw him at the arsenal game and he had lost a load of weight but said it was a stomach ulcer- saw his son in the vic the other week but didnt say anything else beyond a hello.

Truly speechless- him and his son went everywhere, a cracking bloke and a proper hammer. RIP

Re: Subby Patel
A sad loss.

And just to add a "radical edge" to the moment, a man who proved by his own actions that the integration of immigrants into British society can work if all involved truly want it.

The man's life should be celebrated as all that is right about immigration making the UK a far, far better place.

Thanks, Subby. Thanks for proving it can be done. Enjoy your afterlife/reincarnation/eternity of peace.

Re: Subby Patel
I've just heard about this as a mutual West Ham friend has texted me.

I'm really shocked actually as I haven't seen Subby for ages, partly because I haven't been going to matches as regularly for the last year or so and I didn't know he had cancer and wasn't aware of the funeral as we'd lost touch.

Me and the crowd I go with used to drink with Subby before matches and he was an absolutely top bloke. My thoughts are with Shiv who is also a great lad and a Hammer.

He literally used to go everywhere following the club and I was always struck by the number of people who knew him and would stop to chat with him when in the pub or concourse before matches. Loads of people seemed to know or recognise him.

I remember after one match, possibly Wolves away but I'm pretty sure it was West Brom thinking on it, we agreed to meet afterwards for a beer and he ended up taking me into some pub/social club that he knew round there with a load of his cousins and family in and food was being brought out as well, which was good stuff. I was made to feel really at home when he and Shiv were the only people in there I'd ever met before and we were the only West Ham!

Last time I saw him at a match was when we met up in the concourse before that heavy defeat at Man City in the League Cup when we got smashed to all corners. I'd seen him at Forest a few days before as well, as I said, he went everywhere and loved the club.

RIP to a true hammer and a top bloke.
